Happy Birthday to us! We are 5 years old this month!
I have to admit that I started EPC Consulting for personal reasons, seeking flexibility for our young and expanding family. Additionally, I wanted to establish a business grounded in integrity—emphasising clear communication, exceeding expectations to assist clients in reaching their goals, and helping candidates in securing roles they have diligently pursued.
I am extremely dedicated to going above and beyond to deliver results for my clients and candidates (honestly, there are times I should have let things go, but I don't—it's something I'm working on). I just wanted both clients and candidates to understand that recruitment plays a crucial role in the world of employment and business growth.
My goal was to improve upon what I observed and heard from both candidates and clients. This involved straightforward actions like following up, fostering authentic relationships with clients and candidates, and understanding their needs to create suitable matches. I aimed to be involved not just in recruitment, but also in the onboarding process and in supporting candidates' career development as they advanced in their roles.
In the beginning, I didn't have a website, and the idea of creating one made me anxious, but I eventually overcame that! We started with Excel spreadsheets and relied on the relationships I had spent the previous 15 years building. I was focused on the work and delivery, leaving no time for anything else at that point, and I felt more comfortable working behind the scenes. Additionally, unbeknownst to many, I likely had a baby in a carrier while conducting team meetings—with the camera angled just right. Thanks COVID.
My personal and business lives were intersecting, which was somewhat uncomfortable at first. However, we found a rhythm, and I began to feel more genuine in both areas. I learned to manage EPC Consulting as a flexible business, adapting to clients' needs.
As time passed, my business expanded; I hired staff, established systems, secured office space, and accomplished much. However, there were periods when it was more suitable for me to work primarily from home and to hire different types of support. Throughout this journey, there was a great deal of learning and adaptation. I have no regrets and am very proud of where we are today. We are moving forward with AI, expanding our system capabilities, improving processes and adding people capability.
Fast forward to today and we are proudly working in the Built Form space – in engineering, design and consultancy and also some work in the infrastructure space – design and consultancy.
We are dedicated to our clients and ask for their commitment in return to accomplish the task. We avoid the resume race of quickly sending CVs, hoping ours are opened first. We interview all our candidates, and if we send you a CV, you can trust that we have listened, vetted, and evaluated every detail against your requirements. Do we always get it right? No. Do we get it right most of the time? Yes. Are we committed until we succeed? Yes.
As we kick the year off and reconnect after a break, I wish you every success in the new year. If you would like to learn more about EPC Consulting, please feel free to reach out to Kelly@epcconsult.com.au or 0402 084 862 or Midhun Jose at midhun@epcconsult.com.au
